Government financing of healthcare in Georgia (ABSTRACT)

Rusudan Pachkoria

Healthcare reforms have always been aimed at creating efficient government financing. The existing healthcare system is not efficient and the volume of its structure is very large. It is possible to adopt significant savings through the consolidation of healthcare sector.

Budget implementation for 2004-2005 made it possible for the government to finance healthcare programs completely, but unforeseen healthcare expenses are related to significant poverty risk for many families in Georgia. In this case, one of the means for the population’s protection is creation of a state package of balanced medical insurance and development of private medical insurance system.
