Social responsibility of small-scale business in Georgia
L. Kadagishvili resume
In the article there studied the role of small-scale business in the production sector’s main indicators in 1999-2003. Out of five studied main indicators – the number of enterprises, production output, commodity turnover, the number of employed people, fixed capital – four ones decreased.
During this period of time only the number of enterprises has increased, but they do not provide for appropriate efficiency. The number of the employed in small-scale enterprises has dropped too – by 11036 people. We compared the indicators of employment in small-scale business in Georgia to the corresponding indicators of the EU countries, and found out that with current development level it will be difficult for Georgian small-scale enterprises to cope with the social responsibility they have been charged with (employment growth and reduction of poverty). So the state support of small-scale business is necessary.
