The frost is forcing through as winter begins to sway. Christmas is near and the existence of the finish is felt. Each of us is eager to know year results, especially in business and economy.

We have asked the representatives of international organizations, namely the last representative of International Monetary Fund in Georgia Mr. Robert Christiansen to summarize the year and discuss challenges and achievements. We believe he was quite objective and offered us an interesting vision (p.13); Mr. Robert Christiansen discusses economic challenges and achievements in Georgia, Inflation, budget and the issues facing Georgian economy for 2008.
We believe Professor Revaz Kakulia’s views on improving Georgian financial system to be quite interesting and significant, considering the process of globalization, (p.8) International response on the US mortgage market drama and outcomes, its impact on Georgian banking sector.
As for the year consequences, Georgian Chamber of Commence and Industry in collaboration with the magazine “Sakartvelos Ekonomika” laid the foundation to a really positive tradition together with the leading Georgian Universities (Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Ilia Chavchavadze University, Caucasian University, Georgian – American University). On December 30, Interuniversity Scientific and Economic Conference, dedicated to the 170th anniversary of Ilia Chavchavadze’s birth, will be held.
The best speeches on essential issues of economics delivered by professors and MA’s of the above mentioned universities will be presented at the conference. The best work of the year will be shown. The event is important not only for scientist-economists and specialists, but for all those people, who would like to hear a discussion, for those businessmen who would like to analyze quite a wide range of existing problems and to take scientific recommendations into consideration while making forecasts.
