While summing up the competition announced by magazine ‘Sakartvelos Ekonomika’ and Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, speaker professor Emzar Jgerenaia has mentioned that nine applications entered the competition. The works were sent to be reviewed. Winners were awarded on the basis of review conclusions and committee members’ opinions. As part of the competition all the winners were awarded Diplomas and the nominees selected for prizes were given financial awards together with Diplomas.
This is the first time this type of competition has taken place and there were certain gaps, although there is no doubt that a good tradition has started from various points of views: deepening cooperation among universities, exchanging information in the sphere of science, studding Georgian scientific works, developing researches etc;
Professor T. Khomeriki, Sh. Machavariani, D. Jafaridze and J. Janjgava expressed their opinions regarding the competition.
According to T. Khomeriki, textbook ‘Microeconomics’ (authors: E. Kharaishvili, I. Gagnidze, M. Chavleishvili, I. Natsvlishvili, M. Natsvaladze) being selected as a nominee for the Best publication, contains important mistakes, that is unacceptable to some extent. He also considers it to be a good idea to introduce new nomination – ‘The best research on corporate challenges’ that will encourage the cooperation between business and science representatives.
As Sh. Machavariani stated, representatives of Caucasus Business School (Caucasus Univversity) translated ’Principles of Marketing’ with the permission of authors – Philip Kotler, Gary Armstrong. It is noteworthy that the textbook contains correct Georgian terminology.
D. Jafaridze stated that textbook – ‘Business’ (authors: R. Vachnadze, G. Turkia, P. Lomsadze) selected for the nomination of the Best textbook was published as the course of lections. Next editions were published as textbook.
On the basis of J. Janjgava’s proposal, the best students of Economics were awarded Diplomas and a new nomination was introduced – for the contribution in Georgia’s scientific development.
Members of the committee considered it necessary to award Diplomas to the participants who didn’t get prizes, including Gulnazi Erkomaishvili, Lamara Kokiauri, Gela Khanishvili. Also to the participants – Maia Mindorashvili, Temur Toronjadze, Keti Budrduli, Dr. Edward R.
