PERSPECTIVES OF CONFECTIONERY INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT IN GEORGIA (RESUME)

Special attention should be paid to the rational use of the existing raw materials, application of local and untraditional raw materials to production, improvement of production assortment. These measures are aimed at the development of confectionery industry.

It is necessary to take care of quality level improvement and to perform market research, which will promote the improvement of home industry quality in accordance with international level and will increase realization dates and organization of trade.
Increase of dietetic and children production must become one of the directions of confectionery industry development. Thus, it is desirable to grow albumen content in finished production, reduce carbohydrate level and, first of all, sugar. Given the fact that large part of raw materials comes from abroad, it would be expedient to abolish taxes on them. These measures were successfully implemented in a number of countries.
The following measures promote the development of confectionery industry: state support of branches; income liberalization, creation of joint ventures, renewal of material and technical basis; establishment of private firm shops; creation of new commercial descriptions. Purposeful and timely performance of these measures will not only promote the development of confectionery industry and satisfy demand for home products, but will also increase export production. Apart from economic factor, it is necessary to create stable political and social environment for the attraction of foreign investments, which is most important to Georgia nowadays in view of capital deficit.
