Presently Georgian labor market is mainly characterized by the fact that there is a big quantitative and qualitative imbalance in demand and supply of the workforce.

For retaining their competitive ability, applicants for a job should have professional knowledge and raise their professional skills, and very often change the field of activity. Otherwise it will be impossible to solve the problem of rational employment of the population. It is noteworthy that profession requirement trends have been changing rapidly of late. The development of economic infrastructure in parallel creates a demand for various new specialties. We believe that without mastering modern professional standards and priority professions required on the labor market, the catastrophically disqualified workforce existing in Georgia will not be able to find a job for a long time.
Thereupon, a radical reorganization of the activities of the state employment structures and carrying out of a real reform in the employment sphere is considered to be a pressing task. In particular, for implementation of optimal management of the labor market we believe it necessary to introduce the practice of interviewing entrepreneurs with direct participation of the regional departments’ officials. The obtained results should be laid as a basis for elaboration of the state programs of training and retraining of skilled workers.
